Are your employees being naughty or nice?

While I never talk about it in detail, integrity is core to the concepts in Great Work. Ethics is core to making a positive difference. The ends does not justify the means. Both should be in alignment with your values.

Unfortunately organizations often put in systems that drive good people to do bad things. Of course they have free will, but many aren’t strong enough to keep doing the right thing.

In this HBR article, the author identifies a handful of practices that lead to ethical lapses in organizations. Many deal with autocratic goal setting. (Please see my chapter on intention setting as an alternative.) if you don’t want to see your organization on the front page of the newspaper…in a bad way…take the advice in this article seriously.
